Evaluating Fireproof Safes

Now, most safes are fireproof, but you’ve got to understand that there are levels to the fire proofing protections that come with these safes. So when you evaluate fireproof safes, you’ve got to consider the various characteristics of fireproofing techniques. You’ve got to be able to take the specs of a safe, and then find out in your mind what is the bare minimum set of fire proofing that you’ll need for your particular application. In this case, history will help a lot. If your building’s got a history of fires, then not only do you have a concrete track record to work with, but you also have insurance adjusters and underwriters that are going to look at this and say, “Hey, this is a point against you, in terms of your premium rate.” And so you’ve got to be thinking along these lines, if you’re really after something that’s truly appropriate to your work space.
